100th Anniversary
Celebration
Planning
ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS
In the year 2013 the New Jersey & New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association will be 100 years old. The 1st annual convention of the NJ & NY Volunteer Firemen’s Association was held in Spring Valley, N. Y., hosted by the Spring Valley Hook & Ladder Company on July 25, 1914.
It’s not too early to plan for a celebration of this memorable event for our Association.
As the “Pro Tem Chairman” of the committee I am asking anyone that wants to join this committee to contact me with your ideas so we can start planning.
Think about it during the next few months, then we can start a planning committee meeting in early January 2007.
The Association meeting in Old Tappan started the ball rolling. Let’s all get on the bandwagon and make this a big celebration.
We will need a convention site, along with a parade and a Dinner Dance celebration (remember our 75th. anniversary at the Fiesta, what a blast).
We need input from our members as to how we can raise money for a good celebration.
The convention and parade is one affair while the dinner dance will be another affair.
For any questions before our meetings please contact me at 201-666-7903 or see me at the Associations meeting, September 29, 2006 at Leonia F. D., October 27, 2006 at Carlstadt F. D., November 17, 2006 at New Milford Fire Co. # 2 and at Piermont F. D. in Piermont, NY on January 26, 2007.
Yours for 2013,
Milton R. Cole
Past President, NJ&NY VFA
